Carbon 6 Interiors has had the honor of designing yet another Artisan Home for the 2018 Artisan Home Tour. This New American Classic built by Swanson Homes is a delightful blend of styles which demonstrates a subtle fusion of traditional and contemporary design. Expansive private wooded views on a 1.62-acre lot in scenic Medina provide an alluring backdrop for this contemporary two-story home.
Wood beams, columns and other organic materials, next to the custom metal fabricated railings and brackets and black cabinetry create a striking juxtaposition. A large, open kitchen anchors the main level, flanked by the great room and screened porch. The kitchen cabinetry is made of the most durable, technologically advanced and anti-fingerprint material on the market. FENIX Nanotech is a self-healing product in which when heat and moisture is applied to its surface, micro scratches disappear. All thanks to the intelligence of its nanotechnological surface. The formal and informal dining areas are unique while complimenting each other well, most specifically in the style of the light fixtures and dining tables. With a beverage bar and buffet table near the formal dining, this space is perfect for simple family dinners or large dinner parties.
The living room consists of a warm, modern linear fireplace surrounded by stone of neutral colors like beige, warm grays and creamy whites. Large black windows provide a delightful backdrop to the entire room with long views to conservation land.
The study is one our favorite to date. The durable quartz surfaces make for the perfect writing workspace. The accent wall is a black venetian plaster with a custom texture, combine that with the brass light fixture and the six floating shelves and voila! So much character and contrast-we have heart eyes for days.
The Owner's Suite has a built-in upholstered headboard, as well as a built in oak dresser. A beautiful uplit soffit with expansive views of the nature-rich backyard. The Owner's Bathroom has matte black veneer double vanities with clean, white Cambria quartz countertops. A walk-in shower with vertical stack bond clean white tile floor to ceiling and free standing tub allow for a peaceful setting, similar to that of a spa.
The lower level has some valuable amenities like an indoor sport court, exercise room and a full wet bar. As Minnesotan's who bear the winter's cold half of the year, an indoor sport court/exercise room is of high importance!
The strong architecture, clean lines and the simplicity you would expect in today’s homes combined with a refreshing use of contrast and texture. Influenced by modern farmhouse themes, the covered porch, metal roof and stunning exterior architecture blend all the best of traditional design. Open spaces, extensive use of white, beautiful wood textures, hardwood flooring and barn doors all contribute to the beauty of this Artisan residence.
